FCAB NATIONAL BLUEPRINT FOR LITHIUM BATTERIES 2021–2030
The US FCAB has developed a bold agenda to deal with the climate crisis and build a clean and fair energy economy. By 2035, American electricity will be completely decarbonized and net zero emissions will be achieved; by 2050 at the latest, it will benefit all Americans economically.
According to Bloomberg, global passenger electric vehicle sales will reach 56 million in 2040, of which 17% (about 9.6 million electric vehicles) will enter the US market. If Bloomberg predicts that all the batteries for the 9.6 million electric vehicles are manufactured abroad, this would generate approximately US$100 billion in imports. Occupying this market is critical to the future survival of the US auto industry, which historically contributed 5.5% of the US gross domestic product. In addition to the electric vehicle market, the grid energy storage market is also expected to grow. Bloomberg predicts that by 2040, the total global deployment of energy storage power stations will reach more than 1095GW, which will increase significantly from the 9GW in 2018.
The report pointed out that the lithium battery industry seems to be at a critical point, and the cost of lithium battery has dropped by nearly 90% since 2010. This technology is affecting the global transportation market and has the potential to reshape the global industry in the coming decades. It is estimated that by 2025, China’s lithium battery production capacity will reach 1811GWh.
