State Grid/China Southern Grid Smart Meter New Standard
On March 9, 2021, the State Grid Measurement Center officially released the 2020 version of the State Grid Corporation of China’s smart meter series standards.
This release means that State Grid Corporation has fully completed the preliminary technical preparations for the 2020 version of the smart energy meter, and the 2020 version of the smart energy meter has the conditions for full use.
At the same time, there was an announcement on the start of the normalization of the 2020 version of the smart energy meter.

On March 9, 2021, the China Southern Power Grid Metrology Institute issued an announcement on “Convening a technical standard briefing session for China Southern Power Grid’s new generation of smart electric energy meters.” According to the content of the announcement, the manual will be held on the afternoon of March 12 by means of an online meeting.
According to the content of the technical specifications (draft for approval) released this time, the relevant technical specifications are mainly revised on the basis of the 2015 version of the China Southern Power Meters technical specifications.
From the perspective of the revised content, some concepts required by IR46 have been introduced in the overall design.
In terms of hardware design: Hard connection requirements are put forward; Bluetooth communication module requirements are added; battery and battery compartment integrated design is proposed, and the battery can be replaced; the service life still requires 10 years.
